In a world where fire safety is paramount, we at Exterior Plas make the safe installation and maintenance of fire products our priority. Having been one of the first companies in the UK to become FIRAS accredited and having developed and manufactured our own fire doors and windows in the past, we take pride in making sure weโre ahead of the field. We have a dedicated, fully trained BM Trada representative within our management team that is able to oversee and train our installers in the safe installation of fire products.
There is a legal requirement for manufacturers of fire doors to demonstrate the ability of their products to resist the passage and spread of fire. However, if they are not properly installed, their fire resistance capabilities can be seriously compromised. The BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Installation scheme has been designed to provide reassurance to specifiers, contractors and end users that the product they have chosen has been installed correctly and that it should perform as intended.
The Q-Mark Fire Door Installation scheme is based on training an individual who takes responsibility for the training and work carried out by several operatives. The scheme is designed to ensure that fire doorsets are being installed correctly, in accordance with the manufacturerโs instructions or appropriate guidelines.
Demonstrate competence in the maintenance of fire doors.

Where services such as water, gas, electrics or communications penetrate through a buildingโs fire resistant compartment lines, it is vitally important to ensure that the hole is appropriately sealed with a suitable fire stopping solution. Both the Building Regulations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRFSO) require that the person fitting fire-stopping products is competent to do so and third party certification is the accepted means of demonstrating competency.
